Restarting Windows Without Restarting Your BIOS (Vista or XP)

A modern PC with Vista Home Edition takes about one and a half minutes to boot. An older machine with XP is about the same. That’s 30 seconds for the PC itself (the BIOS) to boot up, plus a minute for the Windows operating system to boot. Sometimes, you need to reboot Windows (e.g. when installing new software), but there is no need to restart BIOS, too. However, the default is to reboot both. (That’s called doing a “cold boot,” rather than a “warm boot.”) There’s a trick that works on both XP and Vista to get it to do a warm boot instead, thus saving you 30 seconds per cycle.

i think it can b done by pressing "shift" while restarting the computer... warm-restart.. real fast restart then.. direct from the win bootscreen :D

And those who didn't get access to the link.. u were right.. but lemme teach u a new method.... a trick i learnt on my various endeavours with the most useful searchengine of all... use google to hack the page !!! :D

How...

Try Google's Cache on the same... these are cached images of the pages scanned(spidered) by google.. very useful in these conditions... even if the site is inactive.. Google does maintain a backup.. albeit a lil out of sync... :D
Well... we are not hacking the site.. but seeing the copies maintained by google on the same... the second-best thing to do... :D

Ain't that damn useful :D

BTW.. i just went thru it.. it's the same thing what i told u above :D

@marulez, don't worry mate. Just followed the link of google's cached page that koolbluez gave. The message that you wanted to give has reached us:
Holding down the shift key while clicking on restart to do a warm boot.

Very cool. Didn't know that. Thanks to both of you.
