Need some config recommendations for a few servers I would like to make.
Other than that my main requirements, almost in the order of priority are:-
1. At least P4 @2.0GHz (single-core) like computational performance
2. At least have 2 cores (not threads)
3. Low power consumption -- i.e. don't heat much, and consume minimal electricity
4. Low cost (my target budget is 10K
)
Other fixed params are like 4GB RAM, and a 500GB HDD + basic optical drive.
What I definitely don't need are:-
1. No fancy GPU... Unit runs headless, so mobo's basic GPU is fine
2. No plans to do rigorous OC (I need to run these systems cool, and at low power-consumption)
Given my budget the intel i3 is ruled out, and I guess so are Core2Duo's. Only ones that remain in sight are the Phenom X2/X3's.
Kindly do recommend the minimal SMPS necessary. No plans on adding extra peripherals (apart from maybe a RAID-controller and an additional disk in future, if at all).
