Hi

I want others to rate my rig. I have rated my rig to the best of my opinion. The only usage is enthusiast stuff, such as gaming at full HD with or without AA, overclocking etc.

Core i7 860 10/10
MSI P55 GD 65 10/10
2X2GB DDR3 1600 G Skill Ripjaws 8-7-8-15/16 10/10
Sapphire HD5850 1GB 8/10 (Because I can't play Crysis maxed out :()
Seagate 1TB 7200.12 8/10
Samsung 22x DVD RW 9/10
HP 24x DVD RW 10/10
Glacial Power GPAL650AA 8/10
Samsung 2233SW 8/10
Logitech MX 518 8/10
Microsoft Internet Keyboard 6/10
Altec Lansing 251 45 watts 3/10
Generic Cabinet 2/10
OVERALL 9/10 Primarily because of the fall in Crysis

I am loving the performance I am getting and I can't wait to show it off. :p The rig was well worth the money spent. Some parts were used from before, but most are new. :D

In my opinion:
All Core i7 10/10
All Core i5 9/10
All Q9xxx 8/10
All Q6xxx/Q8xxx 7/10
All E8xxx 6/10

HD 4850/5750 5/10
and so on...

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
Is it just me or am I one of the only people who don't find anything special in crysis :p.
Should have picked up another brand of the motherboard IMO. 860 is an overkill primarily for gaming. I hope the generic case has some cable management with 120mm fan mounts on the front and rear, but you will end up getting couple of good set of fans. No pics and all words >_>, not even a cpu-z validation link.

I can play Crysis at V High 1440x900 Shadows Low no AA 16x AF and get an average of 45-55 FPS.

But to max it out even without AA I need to play at 1024x768 which looks bad.

FEAR runs at full HD 4x at avg 120 FPS.
NFS Shift at avg 60-70 FPS at full HD 4x AA.
Dirt 2 at around 50 FPS full HD MAX no AA.
Farcry 2 at full HD no AA with minimum over 50 FPS.
CoJ2 with an average around 100-120 at full HD without AA.

And all settings are maxed out except where mentioned and AA is/is not used whereever mentioned.

Just FYI, MSI is one of the best enthusiast mobo makers out there and MSI P55 GD65 and GD80 are one of the best P55 motherboards available. My motherboard performs within a margin of 1-2% of the Asus P7P55D Evo and is sometimes faster, almost equally good in overclocking and almost 5k cheaper. Besides, it has won HardOCP's award for VFM enthusiast board. :D

Hey..good rating. Excellent choice of motherboard. MSI makes good boards. True.

1.Why you went for a generic cabinet. Its like you bought the most expensive tv,ac,washing maching, furniture, and it is all residing in a HUT. Groan. Not full justice to the components at all.

2. How come no OEM HSF. You have an OC motherboard. You should OC, else why such an expensive motherboard. You will get same speeds on a native Intel board. The bus lines are the same.

3. I would have gone for 24" monitor, more real estate, since you opened all guns for purchase.

I rate Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI all the same for motherboards. Infact MSI has come out with the x16 x16 P55 motherboard. Trinergy series. The installed an NF200 chip, which opens the board to x16 x16.

Yes, Crysis is a pain. To hit the holy grain >=60 FPS with Enthusiast. Some guys have managed it with 5870 x 2.

Is your RAM running at 1600...?

It will not run at 1066Mhz out of the box. Those are EPP (extended peformance profiles) specification. The FSB : DRAM ratio with the timings have to be adjusted via the BIOS to achieve EPP.

Out of the box it runs at JEDEC#1,#2. Till date mine run at 1016Mhz @ 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V, when they are rated EPP 533 Mhz.

Just fyi, there are times that manufacturers and reviewers collaborate, hence reviewers write advertisements/give awards in the form of advertisement. Its usually asus' non rog board with has lesser bugs but keeping the price point in mind, you could have easily afforded a gigabyte or a dfi boards, rather you chose something made on awards :|. I am not saying msi is all that bad, but seriously for that money, gigabyte and dfi boards can be bought.Msi are supposed to be cheaper than these brands but our distris are notorious and have a colourful personality when it comes to labelling a price tag on certain products.

If you are going to install true120e, remember 2 things.
# In coastal area, true120e and true120e black do corrode eventually. But when black corrodes, the paint comes out.
# Use the bolt on which secures over all 4 corners on top of the heatsink and use the metal plate provided rather than scissor type bolt ons as they dont completely secure the heatsink on the motherboard properly. Assuming the msi board is one with one of those flexing types and the motherboard plate of your case and the brass standoffs are good enough so that they wont buckle/ bent under the pressure of the hsf and the card, make sure there enough depth- no I wasn't talking about the hsf to fit in. In certain scenarios, if a cable management is not done properly and there's no proper airflow, what's the point in having a good heatsink when there's no adequate airflow in the first place. Make sure the case has atleast 120mm 50 cfm fans for the front and for the rear.

I also assume you have bought the true120e rev C. This is the one with ifx type heatbase, good enough am2+/3 mounts and an extra fin on the top.
