Why most of u suggest to hav 2x2GB DDR3 RAM rather than a 1x4GB DDR3 RAM ?
Acc. to me 1x4GB will save RAM slots and will help to maximize the RAM to its highest limits !!

This is because most of the desktop motherboards have a technology called dual channel RAM. With it two sticks of RAM inserted into the same colored slots will give the combined bandwidth of both the slots to both the RAM sticks, thereby improving performance.

cyber bro but i can't understand whats your point. What is your point. Please clarifiy :)

lets say that having two sticks is like having two cores. Instead of pushing all the data to one RAM, the processor can share the data between two modules. So, instead of using a single 64-bit data channel, the CPU gets to use two 64-bit data channels increasing data throughput resulting in better performance.

The difference may not be visible with apps that processor tiny amounts of data but is very much visible when large amount of data is being processed like video encoding etc.

Thanks for clearing my doubt ........
That means its better for me 2 buy a 2GB RAM & put it in same coloured slots.

Or

Will it be better to invest in a 1x4GB RAM ? If i buy a 4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM, then can i put both my RAMs in same coloured slots or different coloured slots? My motherboard has 4 RAM slots (DIMM 0 & DIMM 1)

given that you have 4 slots, use 2x2GB for now. you can add 2x4GB later in remaining two slots (which is highly unlikely IMO)

Hey RAM :duh2:

if u have four slots then mount 4GB on each slot.....
DDR: Double Data Rate....
so to get Dual Channel mode..mount RAMs of same frequency on ODD or EVEN slots...
