Ram Upgrade

I am looking at upgrading my ram to 16GB. Currently i have 8GB (Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 x 2). I was wondering if i can use a DDR4 16GB ram instead ? My motherboard is - M5A97 R2.0 | Motherboards | ASUS Global
Can one check and suggest please.

Doesn't look like your motherboard supports DDR4 memory.

Your mobo is AM3+ socket which doesn't have ddr4 support,ddr4 support of AMD was introduced with AM4 socket mobos.

Depends on your usage. If you are happy with the performance of your system and just lacking the memory, get a new DDR 3 8GB stick (preferably Corsair Vengeance, the same you already have) and you should be good. On normal usage, you would hardly see any performance difference between DDR3 and DDR4 sticks.
