Query about a sound card...

Guys, i use an onboard Avance AC97 sound...the problem is that when playing games like FarCry & Brothers in arms, the sound shutters a lot. If i add a sound card, will the sound become clear??

Also i had another doubt..if i add a sound card, i will disable the onboard sound. Will this lead to increased performance in games as the CPU will not be used for rendering sound?? If yes...plz suggest me a gud sound card..my budget is 2k-3k.

1.67 Ghz P4
256 mb RAM
128 mb FX5200
Ac97 onboard Audio

Yes it will increase performance in games but don't expect wonders. A 5-6 fps increase is all you should expect not to mention better quality sound and support for EAX used in games.
You can get a Creative Audigy Value in your budget.

That config of urs is too slow to play farcry... especially that fx5200.
