processor speed

some processors have speed 366,533,866,933etc, while some have 450,500,600.1000 etc.These are differnt series.Is there any significance difference?

I don't think that the difference is significant. It may be just that the technologies that a particular manufacturer uses, for eg. -Intel, AMD etc. is based on quantum speeds i.e. it can take only fixed value, which is a multiple of a particular value, or achieved by adding to a lesser value. Like wise RAM also exists in multiples of 8 MB.

The overall processor frequency, i.e. - FSB frequency multiplied by the core ratio.
