A very strange problem as it appears that i am indeed connected to a network but not to the internet, if you know what i mean. Okay to brief it, the network and connection sharing window in my vista shows that i am connected to a local network but not to the internet? Whats with this? I can't even seem to use firefox to surf as firefox detects no net connection. And of course the speed at which i'm surfing currently is a pain in the ass!
What do i have to do to set this right? If it helps i'm dual booting xp and vista. Also i currently am using the default motherboard network adapter (Via Rhine). As a matter of fact things were working fine before i re-installed vista as i had some boot problem previously. Help!
My ISP provides ip address and all through DHCP. Also i've seen that everytime i add the default gateway add and close the internet connection setting then come back to it the default gateway still remains blank!?

The Devil's Advocate
the default gateway was a problem but that was with the hibernation the subnet mask and gateway were sometimes lost after hibernation .... the hot fixes cleared the prblem

and for ur particular problem ... i think u should try to upgrade ur network drivers ...
