Hi Guys,

I built my new pc yesterday. After assembling the pc I started but nothing is happening. No beep is coming from the system.

The config is :

Intel dual core E2140 1.6 GHz
Mercury mainboard with 945 chipset
Dynet ram 1GB @667MHz
Segate Sata2 250 GB
LG 17'' lcd

I checked all connections and they are fine. Processor fan starts immediately after power on but then nothing comes on the screen.

I later removed all devices(like hdd, dvd writer etc) connected and kept only processor and ram on the board but the same story. Later I changed the ram slot but to no avail.

I guess that there is some problem with the mainboard/ram as no beep is coming from the system speaker.

As I know even if there is a problem with the ram the bios and all comes on the screen and then u get some error if its a faulty ram. Am I right/wrong?

I am unable to figure out what might be the problem.

Please help asap! Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Amit Kale.

Oops. Motherboard says that it supports Dual core perfectly and even Core 2 Duo also. compatibility I guess is not a problem.

yes..all motherboard based on Intel 945 support C2D processor. You dont even listen any beep sounds. Looks like motherboard problem.

Get it checked from the vendor.

Attitude matters
ya, if the RAM is faulty or not recognised by the BIOS you will hear two short and one long beep ( if I remember correct ) and nothing will show up on the monitor.*my personal experience*. Take the motherboard complete with the processor and RAM and have your vendor/service point test it, to pinpoint the problem.

listen , unplug the RAM from its slot . can you hear any beeps ?
No . then its the problem for your motherboard . you need to change some capacitors . however you cannot rectify it . service center can do .

If you hear some beeps then its ram problem . take a good eraser and clear up the ram then plug into the slot . if you are lucky then it will be ok . However try using different slots of the mobo . it happened in my case that in mobo one of the slot was bad .
