Hello,
I have the following configuration for my desktop.
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (1.8Ghz)
1.5GB DDR 400 RAM
80GB HDD
Asus A8N VM CSM socket 939 m/b
XFX 6800GS 256MB graphics card
...and the other usual stuff.
I am using windows XP with service pack 3. The nvidia graphics driver version is 266.58. I am facing with a peculiar problem. Sometimes the screen just freezes. There is no timing for the same. Sometimes it is when windows is running, sometimes during booting up, etc. At other times, it works fine as usual. I am suspecting it to be graphics card problem as when I have physically removed the graphics card from the motherboard and enabled on-board graphics through the BIOS, windows is running fine, although games like Civ 5 wont run.
I am not understanding what has happened. It the graphics card has become defective, then it should not work at all. As I mentioned, it is working sometimes. What may be the problem? Please help.
