@ sjstays: Buddy, if you're looking at photos, then obviously you can't look at Laser printer. It will have to be inkjet only.
That said, inkjets have to be used constantly, atleast once in 3-4 days, otherwise the ink will dry and clog the head. And then, severe problems might happen. Cleaning of the head will require flushing of head, which may or may not solve the problem... and so on.
Most cheap inkjets (Rs. 2000+) look to be very attractive, but their ink cartridge costs will make you cry! They may go from Rs. 4 to Rs. 15 per page!
Since you find Rs. 10,000 a bit too expensive, I suggest you go for the Canon-ESYink combination... I own it in my house since 6-7 months now, no complaints at all.
And printing cost? It is 10-50.... paise per print. And ink tank lasts really long. Mine didn't even require a fill up till now, and I've taken countless photos, prints, etc. And it has a scanner too, just for your needs.
Full review of my setup is here:

Read it with patience, and decide well.
You can get the above setup for Rs. 5500 too, and its print detail is better than Epson (smaller minimum ink droplet, its 2pl vs 3pl in Epson).
If you have queries regarding my printer, post them in the above link.
