Either take the HP with additional RAM or customize Dell Inspiron 6400, not this one according to your budget. You can save some money by asking dell not to install the OS, they charge you for that.

Also, the HP has a really low resolution for a 17inch notebook. It normally starts at 1680*1050 and goes upto 1920*1200. I've seen 15inch notebooks with 1920*1200...

And yes, the Core Duo/Core 2 Duo thing...although, Its not that big a difference in real world performance, maybe 10-15%

Enjoy~!

afaik, core 2 duo is superior in all areas when compared to core duo. moreover core2duo is 64-bit and core duo isn't

Hey,

try to get the Core2duo processor for HP dv9000. It's much better than core duo and future is 64 bit. :) It shouldn't cost much

actually i meant that the performance diff wont be big for the proccys...
for the GCs it ll be too big... but my bad english... :p
but if he gets a c2d for dv9000 then the price ll increase by abt 5k..

Yes. IMHO, isn't it worth the extra amount? I mean 64-bit is the future and core duo doesn't have that edge.
