I have a Pentium 4 processor and Intel 865 motherboard with 256 MB DDR Ram and a 80 GB IDE HDD.The board has no PCIE16 slot, only an AGP slot.I want to add a graphics card and believe that most of the current cards are PCIE16.So I have decided to change my present board for a motherboard which would support my processor and IDE hard disk, and would have a PCIE16 slot and DDR2 Ram.Moreover it would support dual core processor and SATA HDD so that I can update later. To state briefly,it should have the following configuration:

Processor:Intel Pentium 4 + Dual core
Ram DDR 2 667/800
Hard Disk: IDE + SATA
1 PCIE 16 slot
Others like PCI and USB slots as in standard boards.

In addition to that,I am looking for a decent graphics card which can support Vista and also play most of the recent game titles.I have heard about a few like Nvidia 7600GS,8500GT,8600GT etc.

I have a total budget of around 9K.I am really looking for valuable suggestions from you friends. Please suggest a value 4 money combination(Mobo+1 GB Ram + Graphics card) within my budget.

Can you please tell the prices of the processor and motherboard separately? Will the IGP motherboard play most games decently? One more question. Is a dual core processor of 2 GHz equivalent to a single core procy of 4 GHz,or atleast 3.5 GHZ?

Gigacore

all multi-core processors can out perform single core processors. xfx 630i costs 3400 Rs + tax, 2 GB DDR2 RAM costs 1650 Rs + Tax. Dunno about the CPU

:) Buy dual core Gigacore means Core 2 DUo from Intel or AMD's Dual Core processor and not Intel Pentium D, which have lower performance and higher power requirement than a solo core processor.
I cant tell much about graphics card:D , but you budget of 9K is very good and surely you will get very good config including processor + MOBO + RAM

Ah, whil reading the other threads, hellgate said he bought Core 2 Duo e4500 Processor at 4.5K (this is a 2.2 GHz processor ) this maybe one of the peerfect processors to go for a good overall config.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I have a confusion.Suppose a game requires 3.2 GHz single core processor, will a processor such as Intel E2140(1.6 GHz) or Intel E2160(1.8 GHz) be able to run it?

In other words ,is a dual core processor of 1.8 GHz equivalent to a single core processor of 3.6 GHz?I mean what is the relation between the two?I need to know this clearly. Please help.
