Broken In
1. Budget?
35k-40k

2. Display type and size?
43" 4K format

3. What will the TV/monitor be used for primarily?
Streaming content off OTT platforms

4. Types and number of ports required?
2-3 HDMI, including HDMI 2.1, LAN, USB

5. Preferred choice of brand?
Brand should be known for durability and long life. Would prefer Sony but it will go above my budget.

6. Any TV/monitor in consideration?
Mi 5X shortlisted so far
Also liked the Nokia Onkyo and Moto Revou but they are not available on Amazon. I will be unable to buy from anywhere else.

7. Any other info that you want to share.
  • looking for an Android TV os and not just a smart TV.
  • should have these features: phone casting, HDR+, voice control, dual band wi-fi
  • viewing angle in my room will be less than 45degrees, so either IPS or VA will do (please confirm if VA has better blacks than IPS)

I think Redmi X43 & even Mi TV 5X have ALLM feature from HDMI 2.1. So can consider them for gaming. Else, get Vu 43" 4K for 26-27k, easily best panel among budget TVs. Get its extended warranty as well for like 3k or so for 2 years.

VA panels have a better contrast ratio than IPS, but at the cost of a narrower viewing angle, I think about 25 degrees on each side making about 50 deg viewing angle.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I realised the Mi 5X is not available on Amazon. Only the 4X is. Any idea why and if it will be available there later?
Also, I guess the Vu 43PM does not have HDMI eARC port so Dolby Atmos won't be possible. Correct me if I am wrong. Plus, I am reading the after sales support for Vu is quite bad.

Looks like Redmi X43 will be the better choice. Although, its after sales support is not great either.

Mi TV 5X has same panel as Redmi X series. Redmi & Mi TV are both from Xiaomi & share after sales.

Except the big 3, don't expect good after sales from the rest. Heard Vu is ok-ish in Tier 1 cities.

Look for eARC yourself, don't remember if Vu has it. Check review by Vineet Malhotra, if you want.

If you are not in a big city, just buy the cheap Samsung or LG 43" 4K TV for 35k.

I was also looking at the Sony KD43X74. At 45k, it will stretch my budget, but I am willing to considering the brand quality and durability.
But it hasn't got Dolby Vision. But going by Vineet Malhotra's review, Sony compensates for it with added features.

Not much idea of X74 model. Didn't see the review. If I personally buy a TV for near 50k, I'll buy HiSense U6G because of FALD, thus true HDR capabilities. It is 55" though.

Realistically, I will likely settle for Vu as my friend has it & it is a great value for money option. It is more than enough for most users.

I am using the model for few months and can say it is worth buying.

Wait. New models will be launched as per Vineet Malhotra.
Otherwise buy on 1st day of Great Indian Festival sale.
Online purchase? Amazon, TATA Cliq, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales etc. Avoid Flipkart due to bad TV installation team.

My suggestion Hisense A6H 43" 4k.. less than your budget.
Sony would be great option but it is not that better compared to last years model.
