One of my friend has a PCI 2.2 slots and he wants to buy a GeForce 7300 GT graphics card in that slot.
I wants to that whether the card is compatible with the provided slot type.
If not then what is the best choice he can make out in that particular slot.

PCI 2.2 is totally different from PCI-e slot.Your friend hasn't got any choice worth considering in PCI cards.Best is to get a new motherboard with atleast an AGP slot.

AGP is replaced by pci-e(PCI-Express) cards afaik also AGP cards are costly and pci-e offers more performance.

Agree with you.But since his motherboard has PCI 2.2 slot,I am pretty sure the PC must be pretty old.I don't think his current componenets will work on any motherboard with PCI-e slot.So I suggested AGP.

AGP will be completely phased out in bout a years time.so its foolish to go in for a mobo with a AGP slot and a AGP card now.he'll be killing all his upgrade chances later.so its best to get a mobo with decent onboard gfx and with a pci-e slot now(also a proccy if he needs) and get a gfx card later.
