Microsoft is patching 19 critical vulnerabilities as part of its regular “Patch Tuesday” round of fixes. The fixes cover security holes in Windows, Office and Internet Explorer. Two of the fixes are for Microsoft’s newest operating system Vista.
Seven patches were for Microsoft Office products which includes a fix for vulnerability in Word that currently has an exploit in the wild. One patch fixes a problem within Microsoft’s newest office suite Office 2007.
On the enterprise side, one fix solves a nasty DNS service vulnerability within Windows Server 2000 and 2003. For the past few weeks, hackers have been breaking into servers by exploiting this hole.
Microsoft is urging users to upgrade through either Automatic Updates within Windows or the Windows Update website. You can read Microsoft’s security bulletin detailing all the patches here.
