pagefile.sys moved automatically to E: Drive

When I restarted my laptop today, I noticed that there was change in free space in local drives. Earlier in my C drive it was 9 GB and in my E drive it was 15gb. But now C drive has 17.3gb and E drive has 7 gb only!. I don't know how this space transfer took place because I have not moved anything consciously. I have used WinDirStat and it says that today a file named pagefile.sys of 7.9GB has been formed in E Drive. May I know how can I delete/move this pagefile.sys back to C drive ? Please help me. Thanks.

Why would you want to move the page file back to C drive? Believe me, its better to have page file on E. I think someone else moved it. Thank him/her.

And if you really want to let your OS drive get filled then, right click Computer Icon, select properties and find option to set virtual memory on C drive.

No. Storing the page file on a different partition of the same drive as Windows increases the hard drive seek times and will reduce system performance.

Ok, it seems it's good idea to put Windows Page File on same drive. But only if you are enough space. In OP's case, there isn't much space left after paging file is moved.
I prefer having so much RAM that you don't even need paging.

Like 8 gigs or more!

I have plenty of RAM, should I disable the page file?

No, the page file is what helps keep your computer stable. Although you may think there is enough memory in your computer to handle all the programs it runs, you can still exceed that limit, which may cause program errors and even system crashes. Some programs also rely on there being a page file. If the page file is missing or not available, the computer will get random errors or the programs will not work.
