Hi Friends

Please suggest me a non-gaming home multimedia PC with some extra computing power around Rs 20,000 without monitor as I have already decided for AOC i2369vm (Rs 12K) monitor and I'll spend another 20k for other components. Please suggest a configuration which is really value-for-money and getting max out of it.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Watching FullHD, 1080p blueray quality movies, video encoding to convert my raw dSLR videos to MP4 format (HandBreak), some image editing (GIMP), development (Eclipse IDE)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Rs 20,000/- without monitor

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No, Do not want to experiment and happy with stock speed

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows7 and Linux Mint

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No,Rs 20k does not include monitor as I have decided for AOC i2369vm for Rs 12k separately

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I have APC UPS, Creative 2.1 speakers

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within 1 week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: No, I ve not done the experiment as its a free service offered to me earlier

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:
Hyderabad, yes open to buy online IFF not available in city

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Please suggest a value-for-money NON-GAMING home entertainment PC with extra computing power for some video encoding and development work

Core i3 - Rs 7200
Gigabyte B75- Rs 4400
Corsair Value Select 4 GB - Rs 2350
Seagate Barracuda 1TB - 4200
Antec NSK4400 - Rs 1350
Antec VP300P - Rs 1800

The other better option is the FX6300 but then with a good stable M5A97 you would have to add a GPU and that would increase the cost by Rs3K over all.

fx 6300- 7.3k
gigabyte ga -78lmt usb3 - 4k
kingston hyper X blue 4gb 1600 mhz - 2.6k
wd blue 1 tb - 4k
asus odd - 1k
antec bp300p - 1.8k
local cabby - 0.7k
logitech k/b and mouse - 0.7k
this is the minimum you should get. handbrake is a fully multithreaded application where an fx 6300 will shine.

EDIT:
one question
why do you want to go fo AOC i2369vm? any specific reasons?

Thank you for your suggestion.
But when you say i3 its really confuse me, can you please be specific which i3. either 3rd gen or 4th gen and then which model, etc.
Same for MB. Gigabyte B75 chipset has atleast 3-4 models, which model you are referring to ?

I'm ready for AMD solution and little inclined towards fx6300, but really AMD makes it really confusing for a buyer to get a compatible board and GPU. Can you plz suggest a good standard (no highend) MB for it. Also as I DONOT GAME on PC, please also suggest a simple GPU for it.

Could you please confirm if Antec VP300p can load the AMD config with an addition PCI card ?

Yes, I wanted a 23-24" AH-IPS ONLY monitor with better color accuracy having a HDMI port. And after some online research I have zeroed on it with the help of www.pcmonitors.info, www.tftcentral.com and www.prad.de

Do you know any other better model than this within this price range ?

> You should have specified which i3 you are referring to.

> I think the ram you are referring to is a 1333 MHz one. One can inverts 200 more for a 1600 MHz ram.

Some modifications (and specifications) to The Incinerator's config:

i3 3220 (7200)
Gigabyte B75M DH3 (4500)
Kingston HyperX Blu 1600 MHz 4 GB (2500)
WD Blue 1 TB (4200)
Antec VP450P (2600)
local cabinet (1000)

total: ~21k

As per PC Monitors - Expert Advice on Computer Monitors even though LG makes the AH-IPS panel and used in all LG, AOC, Dell; LG lacks in other aspects of the monitor and even though other manufacturers use LG panel they shine against LG !!! Sounds awkward ? Google it in detail.

Look no where, just buy that AOC display its great with impressive accuracy across the band.

Secondly dont buy a cheap Rs 1000 local cabinet just spend Rs 350 more and get the Antec. Its a no brainer.
With the AMD FX 6300 and a entry level GPU like GT210 for Rs1850 and a couple of PCI cards you dont need more than a 300 watter. In full force you wont cross 245 watts! And that Antec has headroom of 50 watts more.So you are safe. But if you have upgrades in mind like better GPU then get the Antec VP450P.

@ Harshil any pointer where we can find the Kingston Hyper Blue 4GB for Rs 2500?

And the Antec VP450P for Rs 2600?

For AMD fx6300, could you please suggest me a standard (not highend) compatible MB and a basic graphics card with the model name ?

Thank you ASHISH, but do not you think 5.5k for a MB is too high? Or Is it the basic minimum price for a fx6300 compatible standard MB?

gigabyte ga -78lmt usb3 - 4k is supported. also it has igpu unlike Gigabyte 970A-DS3. but anyway, you should go with 970 chipset based mobo as it has better stability and is fully compatible with fx series cpus.
