"After years of delays and billions in development and marketing efforts, it would seem that Microsoft Corp. would want anyone who possibly can to buy its new Windows Vista operating system. Yet Microsoft is making it hard for Mac owners to adopt the software...Microsoft says the blockade is necessary for security reasons..."

Mac enthusiasts who wanted to upgrade to vista and who wanted access to programs that work only on Windows, including some games wud b the ones to be affected by this decision :(

Yes, you can. You can install any version of Vista onto a Mac in either Parallels, VMWare Fusion or Boot Camp.
Microsoft has now, however, imposed a legal barrier that you *should* not install the Home Basic version of Vista on virtualisation software such as Fusion and Parallels. Higher end versions of Vista are still allowed though and even Home Basic is allowed on Boot Camp.

That said, you *can* install even Home Basic on virtualisation software, but that would be illegal. Hope that clears the confusion! :)

anandk, this has already been posted, BTW. And no sane Mac user would consider Vista an upgrade. For most, it is a compromise.

hey vista is a hell lot better then MAC... i am not saying that MAC is BAD but Windows is the best... and will remain the best coz Microsoft makes it.. and its Mr. Bill gates company.. and i am a gr8 FAN to him... so Windows Vista Rocks and MAC -- its great in its own field...

BOTH CAN BE COMPARED

i also got a offer mail from APPLE to upgrade to a MAC with their latest OSx tiger ver. i dont remember,, so i am planning to try out one.... :D:D:D

OK. Thanks for the enlightening information! :)

I have been suffering with a Mac, maybe I should *upgrade* to Vista now.

i guess the fact is that since it is already been brought forward that Vista is a copy of Mac OS, Microsoft is tryin to clear things by doin this. i think this isjust a marketing stunt n nothin else. not to forget the fact that a Mac user would not want to install a windos OS untill n unless there is no other way he can run the softwares that he wants.

most of the companies are coming out with Mac version though. big example is google which has in place a totally different team to work n develop Mac supporting s/w for their every release.
i really don't c y v always go to the extend of Microsoft vs Apple. does it really make sense. if we say Apple/Macs are superior we should not forget that Microsoft is the company resonsible for getting a cheap and widely accepted OS(even though they never did anything about piracy because that would have really stopped their wide acceptance in the initial years).
