Boot Camp Beta lets you install Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2, or later, on an Intel-based Macintosh computer, in addition to an existing Mac OS X installation. After running Boot Camp Beta and installing Windows XP, you can switch between Windows XP and Mac OS X by holding Option (Alt) key when you start up. You can also use the Startup Disk control panel in Windows (installed from the Macintosh Driver CD) or Mac OS X Startup Disk preferences to set the default operating system to use each time the computer starts up.

The Boot Camp Assistant Beta creates a partition just for Windows XP without erasing your existing Mac OS X information. Boot Camp Assistant Beta also burns a CD with drivers for Windows XP so you can use your Mac's built-in graphics, USB, audio, Bluetooth, Ethernet, AirPort, and more. The drivers are automatically installed when you insert the disc into your Macintosh after you install Windows XP.

Key features include ability to install Windows XP on the latest Intel-based Macintosh computers on any internal disk.

This news article makes me wonder, would Mac users really want to install and run Windows XP on their systems?

Walking, since 2004.
Anuj, this is old news. Boot Camp came out quite a while ago. This is just an update.

@andy, okay. i just came across the doc yesterday so posted it.

@mAV3, ya it could be either way round. would work both ways. it would make mac possible for people like me who are accustomed to using windows and love the sleek hardware of apple.

Yes, you are. Plus, it would give long time Mac users a chance to realise how privileged they are!
Uh... sorry, couldn't resist!

Seriously though, it gives Apple a huge advantage over normal PCs in that you can install any operating system on their hardware now. What's more, software like 'Parallels® Desktop for Mac' have made it possible to use Linux, Macintosh and Windows on the same machine simultaneously! It's really cool. Obviously, you need a generous measure of Random Access Memory installed on your system.

BTW, busyanuj, this is a VERY old piece of news. You only came to know about Boot Camp now?

I read that but I wanted to express my immense surprise by re-posting it. The whole tech world is buzzing with this development. Entire websites have cropped up on the 'Windows on Mac' topic. :D

cool, now you can understand the element of suprise in my post. :)

with boot camp, people such as me would definitely like the sleekness of mac hardware and the fixation of windows xp on a single system.

to cut a long explanation short: even i'd like to buy a mac as my next system (whenever i buy one now). :D
with mac minis getting to be of the same price as most of the regular branded PCs, I'm sure there must be a few others thinking on similar lines.
