Yeah, you've read the topic. Its strictly hypothetical, A.K.A, imaginary. I just want to know what components will best serve the purpose of the things I list out, without actually any aim of buying it in near future. Maybe I'll use this thread as a reference in a couple of years while short-listing components before making another thread with the shortlisted components.

@Mods / Admins : Please move this to a better section if necessary.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Going to be a linux / windows multiboot computer (multiple distros of linux and win 7 + win xp ) (no, don't tell me win xp has ended official support. I like it, and I want a computer where it will run).

Going to be running a few servers in *nix, higher end games in windows, like Metro Last Light, CoD : Ghosts, BattleField 4, Crysis 3 all should give respectable framerate at max settings. System will be overclockable, and have the ability to run 24x7, need be.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Hypothetical rig, so, no actual budget restrains. But see if you can suggest a rig under 1l

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Most definitely.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Linux / Windows multiboot (ubuntu+kali+arch+win7+winxp)

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: With those many OSs and games, a few TBs? And because win xp doesn't come with SATA drivers, I will need sata drives + ata drive?

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes to monitor. I dunno screen size, but I am content with (as of now), with full HD. I don't want a multi-monitor setup.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: none.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Never? Or maybe in 3-4 years? As topic says hypothetical rig.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembled by self (but does it matter?)

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Locally / online, doesn't matter.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Please no trolls in this thread. Just want to know about the components that can drive such a system, and a very, very rough estimate at the costs.

Come back when the answer to this question is within a month. Until then read other posts in this section you will get the picture.

Might as well ask the mods to move this to chit chat as this looks more to be a troll friendly or intentionless thread. There is no point in people posting here to increase their post count.

Back to school!!
You could have simply asked, there's no contract that you'll have to buy the rig if you post here. Food for thought.

A year is long time for even a "hypothetical" rig.
And you are talking about 3-4 years.

Well, Aaruni, so "wum successfull"? Or pending?
