New PC within 80k

So, I am upgrading my old PC, but since I am retaining only GPU, so its kind of purchasing an entire new PC.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: I have a variety of mixed workload, which involves heavy gaming (usually play all latest releases), Virtualization, Coding, Browsing (i generally have 100+ tabs), Watching 4k videos/movies.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: Max 80k I am willing to spend, please dont let this go higher

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Yes, on liquid cooling stable 24x7. If boost overclocking possible, please let me know

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 10 / 11 + Linux (Will be swapping distros as per project needs)

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: Min 512 GiB NVME SSD, PCIe 4.0 preferred

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: No, I have a Samsung 1440p 144hz + Dell 1080 60hz IPS

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: GPU, I already have a RTX 2070 Super, this is the reason I am upgrading.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within a month, if prices of component are fair locally

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: yes, will assemble myself

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Bangalore, yes and open to buying online

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I want Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 based system, the more cores the better. Zen3 cores... (Intel seems to be lacking now)
Need a motherboard with : WiFi 6E or WiFi6, Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.1, 5.2. Atleast 2 NVME slots.

Need a case with atleast 4 3.5 inch HDD slot for my existing drives and good airflow. Tempered glass side is appreciated.

I would want to try Liquid Cooling as, Ryzen seems to require it.

Also I would want to keep the idle power consumption as low as possible.

What's your preference between gaming & productivity? Sadly it's not one CPU that is best at everything now for a price.

Also, PCIe 4.0 SSDs are pointless for most people. I recommend those 2000MBps TLC SSDs for most, not even 3500Mbps ones possible with PCIe 3.0, because of their excellent value for money.

Only R7 5800X kind of needs a good cooling solution, even R9 5900X runs cooler than it because of spread out cores vs concentrated cores in 5800X. Your budget isn't high enough for AIO, IMO. Also, usually major OC aren't worth it, just being able to boost CPU to its max with good temps is enough for most. Like for 5-10% extra performance, you need a good investment on cooling.

4x 3.5" HDD slot is kind of rare now, most cabinets have 2 slots. See what you can find & post here.

You can get addon PCIe wifi cards. Costs 2k for WiFi5 & I can see an Asus WiFi6 one for 4k.

For a good balance between gaming & productivity:
CPU - Intel i7 11700 - 31k

Mobo - Asus TUF Z590 Plus WiFi - 21.6k (WiFi 6)

RAM - 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz - 8.5k

GPU - Yours

M.2 SSD - WD SN550/Kingston A2000 500GB - 5k*

HDD - Yours

PSU - Antec HCG Gold 750W - 7.6k**

Cabinet - Antec NX800 - 6.7k (has just 3x 3.5" bays)

Monitor - Yours

Total - 80.4k

*~500GB recommended for storing OS + 4 games or so. Add more SSD in the future.
** CM MWE Gold 650W for 7.2k if Antec is not available
Sadly this config will go beyond your budget as it needs an air cooler as well:
Cooler - Noctua NH D15 - 8.5k
or Deepcool Gamerstorm Assassin III - 7.5k
or ARCTIC Freezer 34 Esports Duo - 4.4k

If gaming is your top priority, can save some money:
CPU- AMD R5 5600X - 27k
Mobo - MSI B550 Gaming Edge WiFi - 18.5k (WiFi 6)

It won't consume as much power as i7 nor heat as much, so that Arctic cooler is more than enough, even this will do:
Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 Pro - 2.5k

Check primeabgb, mdcomputers, theitdepot, vedant computers, onlyssd (online stores) for PC parts at a good price.

I will look, and see if I can snatch a SSD like 970 evo plus 1TB at around 11k from this sale.

The thing is, i run a lot of experimental stuff nowadays. Workload is not fixed to one program. Gaming, I test most of the latest games, if I like them I play them till end, else I just drop them.

I am not leaning towards add-in WiFi cards, due to first there can be compatibility issues with motherboard(not sure, it will work or not) and second there are not so many reviews out there for these...

Is the pricing still inflated? I remember when I got my PC, i spent 75k last time without GPU...

Check reviews for 5600X & i7 11700. There is a silicon shortage & Intel 11th gen has some stock issues in India, or high demand for a CPU like i5 11400 or i7 11700 (in a way only 2 good 11th gen CPUs along with their F variants).

RAM & SSD prices have increased a bit, but not by a lot for SSD. PSU got a price rise last year & didn't recover. Like Corsair TX650M used to be 7k or so, now 9k+ or just OOS.

I did recommend mobo with WiFi, so those are good choices, bit expensive for sure.

I had similar requirements and budget as yours 6 months back. I was also wondering if I should try to put my hands on a Ryzen 7. But unfortunately, it would eat half of your budget and you would have to compromise a lot on the other components. I went ahead with 5600x and other high-end components, no regrets till now.

1. Overclocking 24x7 means you would need pretty decent cooling solution. A good 360mm AIO cooler would easily eat up at-least 8-10k.
2. You wouldn't want to settle for anything less than 3600Mhz RAM sticks, which would easily cost 10k for 16GB.
3. A good PSU will easily eat up approx. 6-8k.

This is of course if you are into ARGB sync setup (like I am lol). If you are not, you can save 3-5k from the above components.
Now If you go for Ryzen 7 (5800x), you would be left with only 15k for the motherboard, cabinet and nvme which is simply not possible.

I don't want 24x7 overclock, only boost overclock. I mean when the cpu ramps up, it boosts to max oc.

I honestly thought 80k would be enough. I can increase it, but will have to build it part by part.

It's as good of a time as any. There is no certainty if price will become better or not. Considering like GPUs other parts are not outrageously overpriced, you can do the upgrade now. Intel's 12th gen is coming later this year, but it's a major change, so not a safe bet to wait IMO.

BTW what's your current rig?

Then take a call between gaming & productivity, as I said earlier. Even 5600X is a big jump up for productivity from your i7 3770K.

The i7 11700 is just a bit slower than 11700K, maybe like 5%, R7 3700X might be close in multicore performance but i7 11700 has better single-core performance. 3700X is slower than R5 & i7 for games though. 5600X is inferior to 3700X in multicore performance, not single core. Even i7 10700F might be worth looking into at 25k for a balance of gaming & productivity.
