1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Office work, Programming, CS GO, Photo editing

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: My budget is Rs.65,000 i can add Rs.5000 more if needed!

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: I have never done it but if it helps then i am ready to try.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 10, Linux

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: I need a 2 TB drive and a SSD

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:No

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:Monitors

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: As Early as possible. Can wait for 2 weeks at most.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler. I haven't built one before.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Hyderabad. Looking to buy from CTC, hyderabad.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I have a two monitors and will be going with dual-monitor setup.
Not sure if a custom graphics card is required for this purpose. If required, please suggest.
Motherboard with Display port and HDMI should do i think.

I have a speaker which works well with Optical Audio. "S/PDIF" optical audio port is needed on the motherboard.

Looking for a motherboard that has good audio features. Overclocking not mandatory.

Preferably Intel 8th gen rig with 16GB DDR4 Ram.

Why exactly are you recommending a 1600x without a cooler and a 1050?

Could you suggest a good motherboard for i5-8500 / i7-8700 with following requirements:

- Optical Audio out (S/PDIF)
- 64GB memory
- Good Audio output
- Display Port and HDMI port
- Wifi not mandatory. If available great
- Overclocking not mandatory

I am interested in upgrading this rig over the next few years.

^^Intel changes its processor socket almost every year so forget about upgrading after 3 years if building an intel system.

AMD will also be changing motherboard architecture in late 2020 I think with upcoming zen2. Intel 370 series will also be there only till 2021 I think.

Which one will be a good bet at this time.

I will be working on Linux mostly on this system with windows as dual boot.
How will AMD fare with Linux compared to Intel.

I am not much aware of them. Please suggest.

Thanks Sunil. :)

Will H370-f board utilise 3000MHz ram. From Asus website it supports up to 2666MHz. Can we get it to working at all its full potential.

No it seems you need to buy 2400Mhz DDR4 RAM only and overclock it to 2666MHZ since 2666Mhz RAM is not readily available in the market for this motherboard.

Just read the below page carefully before posting anything stupid:ASUS ROG STRIX H370-I Gaming Motherboard Review: Page 5 of 9

Intel 8th-gen CPU motherboards explained: Z370 vs. H370 vs. B360 vs. H310

H370 motherboards are only a notch below Z370, and perfect for people who don’t like to tinker. These boards don’t support overclocking, multiple graphics card setups, or some of the more exotic Intel Rapid Storage Technology features. Other than those niche enthusiast features, and some differences in USB 3.1 support, H370 largely mirrors Z370.

Did you read the whole page.
Don't post for the sake of posting.

The Asus motherboard which I posted supports XMP profile for it's memory starting from 2133MHz to 2666MHz only.

Even if you use 3200MHz Ram it will get capped to only 2666MHz.

The specifications provided by Intel can be changed by the OEM motherboard manufacturers.

Let's take the example of non k processor overclocking in the case of 6th gen processors.

Intel did not specify overclocking but ASRock provided overclocking in their motherboards.

It is subjective to motherboard manufacturers.

Before posting do research and then post.

@bssunilreddy you can't "overclock ram" above its rated speeds using xmp profiles alone.xmp profiles are there to help ram run at more than the speed supported by processor(in case of coffeelake it is 2666mhz).You can't run a 2400mhz ram at 2666 using xmp on a H370 board but you can try manually overclocking 2400mhz ram to 2666mhz on a z370mobo(hence the premium price for this chipset). You can run a 3000mhz ram at 3000mhz using xmp profile on a H370mobo if it support xmp profile of 3000mhz(very unlikely though as then most would buy that instead of costlier Z370 mobo).

Intel 370 series will be gone by late 2019(may be even earlier).

If your primary usage is Linux then i'd say stick with Intel.
Not saying AMD is worse, but graphics drivers might be a problem in AMD side. Also, if you ever plan on a hackintosh build (Unix), intel is the way to go
