The camera should be good as photography would be one of the main tasks

The phone should have a good screen with good viewing angles and a good camera is essential

have you considered Lumias? they offer the best cameras and displays in this range
next best option in android is Mi4 and One Plus One
even HTC D820 is worth checking out

Those two might be out of his budget.... Also OP prefers a 5" device

If you are fine with 5.5" devices, go with Oneplus one.... oneplus two, if it uses S810, might face heating issues...
