Then definitely get that extended warranty,it's a shame that they aren't giving ADP(accidental damage protection) too in this extended warranty else it would have been perfect.
They used to give it in 2016.My friend laptop fell from bed & even though screen didn't break there was some internal issue where screen will always blink when on battery power but got it replaced under ADP as I doubt usual warranty cover physical damage(though screen has no sign of physical damage but the hinge had).
Indians exploit ADP like hell. I have seen many such instances in my college with people having Dell & Lenovo laptops. Once I asked Lenovo to replace my laptop's screen due to dead pixels, they weren't ready to do that. The service center guy indirectly told me to break the screen & avail ADP
.
Damn, that's bad. If salesman exploits ADP like this, it was bound to get removed.
You can always insure your laptop, that will cover all physical damagesSo extended warranty is a joke, and ADP is not provided. Guess we are just screwed.
Another reason why I don't prefer laptop myself.
Well it depends.e.g.someone putting laptop under extreme usage conditions for long durations may cause failure of motherboard/gfx card which would then be covered under extended warranty assuming one didn't get a faulty unit to begin with.So extended warranty is a joke, and ADP is not provided. The replacement of a part is covered under 1 year standard warranty. What these companies are doing nowadays is that only software support is there in extended warranty cases, it might not be true for some specific oems but most of them are doing this only.Well it depends.e.g.someone putting laptop under extreme usage conditions for long durations may cause failure of motherboard/gfx card which would then be covered under extended warranty assuming one didn't get a faulty unit to begin with.
Remember my Harassment Pacakard threads? Got to know this from them. Heard the same from a person owning a Lenovo laptop also.First time I am hearing anything like this, can you quote this from any manufacturer's extended warranty terms & conditions to back this because I don't think its possible. First of all not all laptops come with pre-installed windows in which case there can never be "software support" because OS is the most basic software(installing your own OS means your own responsibility). In fact many laptop manufacturers clearly states that warranty covers only hardware & not software especially in case of no preinstalled windows laptops.
Please ask the website/shop for a copy of the terms and conditions.Yes, if only software support is being covered in extended warranty, that's just a waste of any extended warranty cost.
There should be fine print about it somewhere.
