For a sum of Rs.2000/- you won't get good quality mp3 players. It costs Rs.5500/- for 512 MB Cowon Mp3 player in mumbai.

I'd also suggest Transcend T.Sonic 610. Its got great sound quality, is very small and compact, has an OLED display and is good VFM. Don't go for shuffle. It does not have a display. Managing 512mb/1gb of music without display can be quiet difficult.

It has an built-in rechargable lithium-ion battery. Battery life is around 13 hours (Source: Digit May '06). You'll need to buy an AC charger to recharge it.
