A desktop would be better. You will get far superior at lower prices.
But if you are always on the move and have no time to sit in 1 place, then you may choose laptop.
as for reccomendations, give a little time.

You should wait for Dell XPS 17, Lenovo Y series & HP Envy series to launch. They will give you the best out of your budget.

Current lineup at the high-end range is poor.

i would go for dell (go for extended warranty as well. likes their external damage coverage which no other company gives as far as my knowledge is concern.)

a dell laptop with 4GB RAM, 320GB+ HDD, 1GB graphics card, i5/i7 processor should be more than enough to play those awesome games and let you multi task everything else.

i would recommended laptop any day over desktop for portability reasons and you could get the above config below 40k. check the dell website though. m not too sure about the latest pricing.

No mate.

A laptop of Dell of the said config costs more like little overy 50k.

OP, if you dont need portabilty I reccomend you a desktop. Should I help you with configs?
Please tell what have you finnaly chosen desktop or laptop?

@ op

Desiibond's suggestion is very good. I checked it in dell's site and xps 15 series is offering sandybridge notebooks. Go for it as dell's after sales service is the very best.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

This GPU should give around 30 fps on medium settings and should give high 20s on high settings (crysis 2). I won't comment on future games as one year from now, the games could be lot more heavier on resources. anyways, this GPU should play all current gen games at medium to high settings.

GT 540m is agruably one of the top performing Laptop GPU's in the market at the moment.

Coupled with an i5 SB and 4gb RAM it will run all the games super smoothly.

But if your gaming is priority and dont want portability I am saying it again and again then get a laptop.

So, OP whats your absolute final decision?

Wait, what ?
GT540M is a good VFM mid-range GPU which is usually paired with a WXGA display. it'll struggle to play game at 1080p with medium settings and can only play most games at high (not very high) at WXGA res. at around 35-40 FPS.
If you're buying a 90k gaming laptop, then getting a laptop with a 540M is a waste of money IMO

that is including 3yr complete cover which itself costs 13k if i am right but is worth every penny.

another option for OP I think is to buy a mid range laptop and get a game console (xbox 360 with Kinect or PS3 with move)
