Hi guys, I am looking for a Gigabyte P57X v6 laptop (4 years old) replacement. Please suggest one.

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
  • INR 1 lac - 1.2 lac
  • $1200 - $1500
2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
  • I love 17"+ screen
  • weight is not an issue
3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
  • MS Office
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Video editing tools (1080p videos)
  • A lot of Chrome browsing
  • Gaming once a month on low settings
5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
  • Nothing specific, I am open to anything
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
  • a. Like: I like Alienware laptops, but they are expensive.
  • b. Dislike: none
6) Anything else you would like to say?
  • Screen resolution - 1080p Full HD
  • Battery back up ( normal (3-4hrs) / extended (5-7hrs) ) : Doesn't matter
  • Purchase place -
    • Probably in the USA
    • In India, if the laptop price & spec are the same

BTW I am also looking to sell the Gigabyte P57X v6 laptop, I would appreciate it if you can guide me on how to sell this in India. Any reliable websites or forums? This is the spec of the laptop,

US is cheaper, on sales can fit even an RTX 3070 laptop for $1500.

Anyways, for primarily video editing usage, I'd say pick i7 12700H + 3060 on a laptop like Legion 5i else Asus F15.

F15 can sustain CPU at 90W, so will outperform AMD CPUs, although AMD CPUs are more efficient for battery life. HP Omen apparently can't sustain such high power to CPU without throttling. Do prop up back of laptop to improve cooling with any laptop.

Thanks for the suggestions I am checking them out, can I get anything with a 17" screen?
Again, depends on deals, 17" variants of those laptops exist. Check for reviews, esp thermals. If an i7 12700H laptop is not able to keep CPU at more than 60W on CPU only load, you are better off getting Ryzen ones, like Legion 5 Pro has a 16" display in 16:10 aspect ratio, might like it & can get R7 5800H + 3070 for $1500. Laptop like L5P runs 5800H at 75W, so gets very close to i7 12700H at 45W. That Asus F15 with i7 at 90W is close to 50% faster in CPU only workload.

You can avoid Intel 11th gen completely:

Hey all thanks for the suggestions. I kept quiet here because I was confused between a laptop and desktop.

I have decided to go ahead with a desktop.
