Need help ! Want to upgrade from AMD Athlon 200GE to AMD Ryzen 3 3200G or higher

Hello friends,
Currently i am using this pc build
processor -Athlon 200GE
motherboard-Asus prime A320M-K
smps corsair 650 watt
2*4gb 2400mhz corsair ram
Seagate BarraCuda 1TB internal hdd x 2

i want to upgrade my cpu to AMD Ryzen 3 3200G or higher
for that i heard i need to update my bios version of my motherboard
current bios version of my asus motherboard is 5602

i want to know will updating my bios help ?
if yes which bios version should i choose here

I would also like to know if i change my processor do i need to format my pc or nothing changes i can use my pc as it is?

and if i continue using my old cpu for some more time will i have any performance issues aftre bios update?

For each supported CPU the BIOS version since which it is supported is mentioned.

Strangely the Support section seems to be missing on Asus India website for this board!

i want to know do i need to update bios when my athlon 200 ge processor is running or i can update bios after changing processor to say for example RYZEN 3 3200 G whose supported bios version is 4801 ?

also my current bios version is 5602 so i have to downgrade my bios ver or this has nothing to do with numbers?
my hardware engineer although said he had never updated bios and warned its risky

Updating BIOS is always risky and if something goes wrong you may end up bricking the board.
You need to first finalize the CPU what is supported and available currently, then check for that CPU what is the minimum BIOS version needed (i.e. since which Version it is supported)
If your current version is higher or same no need to update BIOS but if it's lower then you need to update it to at least the specified version when current CPU i.e 200 GE is running.
Then thereafter when you upgrade the CPU it will be supported. Otherwise PC will turn on but except fans spinning nothing will happen. It won't POST.
Hope it's clear.

There's also something called as Bridge BIOS i.e. an in-between middle version mandatory only after which next higher can be flashed. Check if documentation mentions any such thing on BIOS update pages. e.g. if you are at 3 and latest is 9 but Bridge is 5, then from 3 you can't directly go to 9, you must first flash 5 as a Bridge and then can go to 9.

thanks ..just checked on google and also local hardware store that my current bios version won't require me to update bios and i still can install and run ryzen 3 processor
