Need help purchasing a new PC

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to upgrade to a new PC and could really use some guidance and suggestions. I’m looking for a solid upgrade that can handle gaming and general multitasking smoothly.

What I’m looking for:

  • Preferably an Intel CPU
  • Not looking to overspend but want decent future-proofing, mainly for gaming and daily use.
  • Will be using a dedicated GPU

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: I will use the pc for working on MS office, watching movies, playing new games like - Forza Horizon series, WWE2K series, Mortal Kombat 1, Street Fighter 6 , Dirt 5 & 6, Call of duty series, Battlefield series, Need For Speed series.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: 50k. Can extend to 60k.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 11

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: SSD 1TB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: Need a new monitor. 22 inch will be good.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I have two HDDs ( Samsung 320 GB & WD Green 1TB) and 1 SSD ( Crucial BX500 1 TB). So will reuse them.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within this month - June '25

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai. I can buy locally and for speakers, mouse, keyboard, I can check online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:

I will install Windows 11 in the SSD and my remaining files in the HDD. How much space is needed for the OS? What if I use a smaller capacity storage for the OS or is it advisable to use 1TB storage? Will it affect the PC performance?

Also, please suggest options:
  • A regular wired mouse instead of a gaming one
  • A standard wired multimedia keyboard
  • Good 2.0 channel speakers

Really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Assuming you will be spending at least 20k for dGPU (1080p gaming), even i3 F CPU built would overshoot your budget of 60k without skimping on hardware.

For your tight budget I think you will have to compromise on hardware quality a bit. I have one suggestion:
Intel i5 14400F + MSI Pro H610M-E DDR5 Motherboard + Zotac RTX 3060 + AData 5600MHz 8GBx2 RAM + Antec Atom V550 PSU + AOC 22" Monitor + Ant ESport Cabinet

From online prices I have seen the above setup should be around 55k - 60k.

I have used older GPU due to your budget constraint but this setup should be OK for 1080 resolution gaming on medium settings.

Thanks for your response guys!

I will be playing games on normal settings but don't want to compromise too much on overall pc performance.

Since I'd like to future proof my pc and have a well balanced setup, I'm ok if the cost goes upto 70k but not more than that.

Let me know your thoughts.

Looking for some guidance here:

I had earlier mentioned that I’ll be reusing my old storage devices for my new PC build. However, I’m now considering using an NVMe drive as the primary storage for the OS, keeping my existing SSD as secondary storage, and possibly leaving out the HDDs since they’re quite old ( almost 15 yrs old)

Would it be a good idea to skip the HDDs altogether, or can they still be used reliably for backup purposes?

Also, what storage capacity and which brand would you recommend for the NVMe drive if it's going to be my main drive?

I use 500GB NVMe as my boot/Windows/programs drive, my 2TB SSD for games and another 1TB for all multimedia and backups. Choose as per your requirements. HDDs are still OK for backups and other data assuming they are new or in good condition. Since you have limited budget I can suggest Crucial P3 Plus SSDs for their reliability and low price.
