Why going for Intel? Go for AMD Athlon64. Thats the future! 64 Bit! Go for an MSI (nVidia nFORCE 4) board if going for AMD. For RAM, go for kingston or Corsair. Hard Disk: DO NOT BUY SEAGATE! It will crash within warranty itself (if you dont believe me, just do a search on hard disk on this forum and see for yourself!). Otherwise everything is OK.

Ok, here is one of the possibilities:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (socket 939) ~ 7300
Motherboard: MSI RS 480M2-IL with integrated ATI graphics (since you have not mentioned that you will be into gaming or not). ~ 4900
Hard disc: 120GB/160GB (not Seagate, as mentioned earlier) ~ 3500
RAM: 512MB 400Mhz (256MB * 2, preferably Kingston or Corsair) ~ 2200
Optical drive:Sony/Liteon DVD-writer ~ 3500
Keyboard: Microsoft Internet keyboard ~ 450
Mouse: Microsoft/Logitech optical mouse (do not go for cordless if you specifically don't need it) ~ 350
Speakers: Altec Lansing 251/Altec Lansing VS 3151/Creative Inspire 5.1 5200 ~ 5000
Monitor: LG 17" LCD ~ 15000
Cabinet with minimum 300W PSU. ~ 1200

Total ~ 43400

This is relatively future proof, and you can make some changes. The LCD monitor is too expensive, you can always opt for a 17" flat CRT. Also DVD writer is not required unless you need to burn DVD's frequently. Go for a combo drive. In that way, you can save around 12000 bucks on both of these components and invest that money, in say a PCI-express graphics card like Geforce 6200/plain 6600, if the gaming bug bites you some time in the future, or maybe a better processor like 3200+. The 3200+ costs ~ 9500 and a 6200 graphics card ~ 4000. Or forget this if you are not a gamer, a better quality 5.1 speakers will be great, suppose a Logitech Z5300 (~12000).

Let us know your final decision on the config.

thnx all.. but i hv mentioned tht the PC config shuld satisfy all the basic needs like Gaming, Media and excellent graphics.. due this only v r ready to spend a hefty amount.. so v need a PC since v r a "hardcore gamer".. and also in an idea of goin for a TV Tunercard to record movies and songs frm TV..

And also i hv not mentioned Seagate HDD.. i hv mentioned Samsung (SS).. cos i personally knw seagate is of no gud.. Also v r sure to go for a DVD Writer n LCD Monitor.. and also cordless Mouse n Keyboard..

So no compromises and later changes to b made.. a fully packed hardcore machine config is needed.. hope u guys can understand me.. and also <45K..

TIA

Are u sure 45000 is a hefty amount ?? :p ur futuristic PC is will cost u a lot more...
If u are decided with the LCD+ DVD writer that takes out around 12k (conservative estimate) out of ur budget!
u are left with 30k out of which u ll only get a budget/entry level system.
Here are some suggestions fr u, since u are only going to use ur pc as a gamin machine:
i) get athlon 64 2800 + s754 mobo to cut down costs...
ii) get a gfx card ! 5000 bucks of more gfx power will help u more in games than twice the amount u spend for ur other components ;)

I m too lazy to write a full configuration, but you can also look at the configuration suggested by digitized.

But v r into hardcore gaming.. so shuld i go for a change or stay with the same motherboard.. cos u hv mentioned if iam not into gaming i can go for MSI RS 480.. Juz clarify this..

He said that cuz the motherboard has an on-board graphics card. Go for a separate graphics card.

The MSI motherboard has on-board graphics and also a separate PCI-express slot. You can buy a 6200/plain 6600/6600GT (this is for hardcore gaming) if you save some money on the monitor and buy a CRT one.

Thanks that you liked my config.

Ya, and get a Leadtek graphics card, they rock!!! You are very much correct, and you have to disable the on-board graphics from the BIOS if you install a separate 6200/6600/6600GT.
