I have a budget of Rs.15,000/- .Please suggest a processor and motherboard combo. i'll be using the system for basic purposes like internet browsing, watching movies and some photo editing. I already have 4gb of RAM so do not need any. I am not partial to either AMD or Intel so would like to have the best possible option within my price range. Thank You.

yes it's for me...I am making a low end PC for basic needs. I also don't need a gfx card as I already have a gt240.
How's ECS as a brand? I don't have any idea of their after sales support, which is something I am concerned about. Gigabyte has good after sales support.
btw, how are these options- Intel Core i3-3210 Processor - Intel: Flipkart.com
Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2 Motherboard - Gigabyte: Flipkart.com
seems good enough for my needs and cheaper also?

for basic needs, get pentium g2020 and gigabyte gah61m-d2h/b75m-d3h at 3.3k/4.2k and save the rest.

Well I don't want it to be too basic either. I actually quite like the FX 6300...I think it's just perfect. performance wise, it seems to be better than the i3-3210. Can you suggest any gigabyte boards for the fx6300? This looks like a good enough board for my needs-

i suggest to get that ecs board. rma is handled by rashi afaik. just confirm it. it is a good board with 6 power phases and you can overclock your fx6300 peacefully on that board.
else get gigabyte ga 970a -ud3(if available- it is a very good board.)
else get the board ashish suggested.

hmm...I don't need any overclocking features as I will never do that. I'll see if I can get the gigabyte one. Thanks a lot guys. Will let you know what I purchase (which will happen within a day or two)

then get the board ashish suggested. even cheaper gigabyte ga78LMT-usb 3 at 4k will do the job fine.
