Need a phone for under 10k.

1. Budget?
10k

2. Display type and size?
Less than 5 inch preferred.

3. Dual sim?
Yup

4. Preferred choice of brand?
Don't want to buy chinese brand phones.

5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)?
Camera doesn't matter.

6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc).
Android. Latest android version preferred. Also I dislike custom skins.

7. Preferred connectivity options (3G, 4G ready).
4G is only for show right now. I do not even have good 3G connectivity where I live.

8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)?
Browsing, gaming, listening to music. Also lots of calls.

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
I really wanted to buy the Moto G 3rd Gen but is it out of my budget.
Going by the replies to other threads everyone seems be suggesting the Redmi 2 Prime and the Yureka Plus.

10. Any other info that you want to share?
The most important requirement for me is the latest version of android. But if I have to live with Kitkat I will. I absolutely hate custom skins and they are enough to make me hate an otherwise awesome specced phone.

About the custom skin part, you will get a custom skin with all phone except Nexus and Motorola. You have to root and replace to get a stock or near stock rom. If this is a huge requirement go for Moto E.

Yu Yuphoria for 7k: Comes with CM12s with 2-3 bloat apps (removable)

Redmi 2 prime for 8k: Only other option with almost similar specifications. Flash any AOSP based rom like CM12 if you don't like MIUI.

Moto E2 4G: lower screen resolution, lower ram, lower camera resolution, no flash.

Other than these 3, I don't know if any recent phone under 10k will get updates.

I am okay with MIUI. Redmi 2 Prime seems to be out of stock everywhere.

I have bought multiple items from Mi.com. The fastest delivery I had ever seen from any retailer. Packaging is very good as well.

OK. I think I will go for Redmi 2 Prime then. Any pros/cons compared to Zenphone 2 Laser and Moto G3? Also some are reporting Mic problem on Flipkart review sites. Any forum member who is using the phone? I would like to know his/her opinions on this phone. Also how easy is it to root Mi phones? I do not want to install recovery or anything like that. Just to get superuser rights to use greenify and adblocker.

You are comparing Redmi 2 to phones which costs 1.5 - 2 times more

Check xda regarding rooting

Both G3 & Laser are better than Redmi 2 Prime. Get G3 if you can, it will surely have good dev support

Also how are the Honor phones?

You said in your OP, display less than 5 inches, latest OS required, no Chinese company and camera not important. Based on that i would recommend Moto E 4G.
Otherwise Redmi Prime is good.
But beware of only 8gb internal memory of Moto E. Other than that, Moto E has 1gb ram vs Redmi 2 Prime has 2gb.
So choose accordingly.

Size <5" ...... I would say that the only good options are Redmi 2 Prime & Honor 4C. Both have decent camera & performance. 4C has better rear camera (13MP Sony sensor) & will get 5.0 update in october, but has 8GB internal of which you get 3.1GB. You can move app data to SD card. It has a good front cam too (if you take selfies)

Redmi 2 Prime is good for 7k, has 16GB internal, no issues for its price. Its physically smaller than 4C due to 4.7" screen compared to 5" of 4C

Both have skinned UI & you might prefer using a launcher to get the standard app drawer n all

Honor is basically owned by Huawei & there are many Huawei service centres in India

Redmi 2 Prime it is then. Almost final. I will try to extend my budget and buy the Moto G3 but if I cannot then Redmi 2 Prime.

Go for Moto E second gen. Its the best for your needs. Although I personally use Xiaomi Redmi 2 prime and despite being Chinese brand, its awesome.
