Right off the assembly line
Hello forum users,
I am in a kind of a situation. I own a laptop which my dad is taking with him for his office work. I am in the middle of a project (I am into designing and web-programming) and I need to complete that within a weeks time. i have permission from my dad for buying a new laptop. I have filled in the template below. The main part of the situation is that I have only till tomorrow evening to buy a new laptop.
Here goes the template :-
1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that).
A: I am planning to buy a Laptop which I need to use as a laptop which I will be using for most of my development and gaming needs. By development, I mean developing websites and animations, sounds etc (using software like Dreamweaver CS5, Photoshop CS5, FL Studio etc.). The games that I am into playing at present include Crysis - Warhead, COD-Black Ops, Ninja Blade, GTA 4, NFS Hot Pursuit 2010.
2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: I am open to all brands which provide good after sale service in Delhi, preferably on-site warranty. But I have 24 hours deadline before my dad takes my laptop for his office use and then, I would need something to work on. I am in the middle of an ongoing project so cant wait a few days to stay without a laptop.
3. What is your MAX budget?
A: My budget is 50k to the max.
4. Planning to overclock?
A: Don't think so.
5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Windows 7/Windows XP alongwith Ubuntu.
6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 500GB at least.
7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: I prefer smaller screens. But, I need something more than 13 and 15.6 to the max. Anything bigger than that would be impractical for me to carry around. I have a smaller laptop (Acer D255 netbook), but that, my father is taking for his office job outside the country.
8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: I would say, I am an 8.
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: I have built my own Dektop, the config is in my sig (thanks you guys for helping me buy it!). i can easily open and work around with my laptop as well, if the need be. Just repaired the sound module of a Sony Vaio.
10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: TOMORROW. 14 FEB 2011 is the day I need my Laptop as my dad will take mine.
11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: Yes. I can't afford a new laptop for 2 yrs atleast after this, and I need something that runs any future versions of the software that I need.
12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new Laptop? If yes, do mention.
A: Don't know what to write here.
13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: New Delhi. I would like to buy from a shop in Delhi only. The only reason for this is that I want it tomorrow only.
Please suggest some good options and suggestions. Thanks in advance guys...
