Hi Guys,

I need to buy a new laptop within the next 1 month. I need a 17" screen with Full HD (1080p) resolution. An i5/i7 processor, 4 GB RAM, and a good graphics card is also required. I'll be using it primarily for watching movies and gaming. My budget is 70-75,000 at max.
There is a model I saw on Dell which costs around 70k.

Processor - i7 -740QM
RAM - 4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
Display - 15.6" Edge to Edge Full HD
HDD - 500GB SATA 7200 RPM
GPU - 1 GB DDR3 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730

Adding a BD-ROM drive and a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Card will round it off to 75k. The only problem is that it has a 15.6" screen. Oh, and also, my friends have been suggesting me not to buy a Dell as most of their laptops develop serious problems within a short time.

Could you please suggest some alternatives and help me decide the best one?

Thanks.

go to a lenovo store and see what they got, otherwise the above seems fine....ask for a 130W power adapter for the dell, it should be provided at no extra cost..

I checked the Lenovo's website, but couldn't find any 17" laptop, nor a laptop matching this configuration.
There is a model from Sony Viao E series with 17" , core i3-330M and HD 5650 but it has a resolution of 'only' 1600 x 900 for 57k. It's a pity they don't let us configure the system.
I would really love to have a 17" 1080p screen.
Isn't there any within my budget?

It is hard to find a Full HD laptop with a 17" screen. I got one Acer laptop reference for you, but it is a 18" laptop. One suggestion from my side, Laptop graphics cards are not as powerful as their Desktop counter parts, so playing games in 1080P resolution will be problem. Stick with 15.6" to 17" (1600X900) display.

Wow! Thanks for this Acer recommendation. I didn't know they made a 18" laptop too. :-|
I don't mind the big size of this one as I have another ThinkPad to carry around.

I'll be using the new laptop primarily for movies. That is why I wanted a big screen with Full HD. I'll be running games occasionally, and at lower resolution.

Any more suggestions in mind?
