Someone i know bought the POCO M6 pro 5g during the FK sale for 12k and is pretty much satisfied with it-you could check it out.

Since its for a senior citizen,i dont think you will need any extra features apart from the ones that are already available on it.

But it most likely has a hybrid type sim slot.Nowadays its becoming increasingly difficult to find phones that have 2 dedicated sim slots along with a separate slot for memory card.

Moto G54 will be my top recommendation.

Redmi 12/Poco M6 pro will be enough as mentioned earlier, but get 6/128GB variant. Has MIUI like Redmi Y1, so will not be drastically different as stock android. But G54's more powerful SoC & stock android will make it be smoother to use in the long run.

Motorola user interface more complicated

Redmi 5G 8GB/256GB
or
Redmi Note 5G 12G/256GB

256 enough for data storage? Without using memory card?

What about Samsung any 5G models...Better than Redmi?

Don't buy them unless you are looking to flash a custom rom

If you are using more than 64-128 GB on a phone, you need an intervention and clear all the useless whatsapp forwards.

Thumb rule for Samsung phones, buy the highest ones running on Qualcomm SoCs or don't buy them at all.

For most people, 128GB is enough. If not, 256GB is the next step up but its too much for most unless you get a lot of WhatsApp images & videos which aren't getting deleted. Turn off auto download, check a image/video then delete it.

M34 5G is decent, just weak SoC. SoC is not a concern if comparing against Redmi 12's G88 but inferior to G54. Should be enough for a senior citizen. UI will be different to MIUI again. Core android functionality is similar among android UIs.

M6 Pro should do. If you higher storage capacity, you can check Poco X5 instead of Redmi 12 5G. With X5 you get AMOLED, fast charging but it's already an year old.
G54 is another good choice, but it is for someone who appreciates near stock android experience.
F34/M34 despite weak SoC, it woud be good enough and you get longer android/security update. But in the budget, you can only get base variant and need to shell out extra for charger.

You can opt for the Samsung Galaxy M14 5G priced at 12k, offering 6GB of RAM for just an additional 1k.

Motorola have connectivity issue as reported by many users and quality of Poco is bad.

If you want a better sound experience, good performance, camera quality, and battery stability, then opt for the Samsung M14 5G.

better to use original samsung adaptor for charging-adaptors from other brands have been known to cause issues with phones that are not from the same manufacturer
