My S2 dead? Help needed to revive

Hello all,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, it was serving me quite well till yesterday.

A brief background:

I had brought it in 2011, and since than I have rooted it two times but reverted back to stock ROM because the others were draining battery.

So, yesterday my friend dropped my S2 on the floor the battery came out and there were no superficial damage signs on the signs.
So, I placed the battery and powered the phone and it powered on but it just kept on showing the 'Samsung Galaxy S2' splash screen and didn't boot up. I tried everything I could pulling the battery out again and keeping it like that for 10 min. and that inserting it again but to no avail same thing happened phone freezed at the splash screen.

So, I took it to the service centre and showed guys the problem they said it was a software corruption problem and it had to be reinstalled(I thought I could do that myself, but didn't wanted to take the risk at this point), they told me that there was a 1% chance that the phone may not work again(I think he was saying about bricking it). I gave them the phone and today when I went to take it back they told me that the motherboard had to be replaced(and it would cost me 8300/-) and my phone was dead it isn't charging or even getting to that splash screen, that it was going to before, So my plans of flashing it myself are a no go.

I don't want to spend 8300/- on it(but it is such a great phone I don't want to leave it either) so do any one has such an experience or knows of any solution.(I am planning to show it to a local mobile repair shop but want to try my hands on it first).

Thanks

Here's what happened to my S2 two months back.

It had 50% battery. I put it on charging. Went to eat dinner. Came back. It never worked again.

Didn't even charge. Nothing. I went to Samsung service center and they said the motherboard needs to be replaced and quoted the Rs. 8198 as the price. :|

yes, it's dead as of now. You can't do anything with it. :( Take it to some local mobile shop as you said. I'm yet to take mine as I already upgraded to Nexus 5.

One last question I was planning to buy a phone around 13k and have also started a thread to recommend between zenfone 5 and mi3.
Both of these sets have some issues(as read from flipkart reviews), so what do you suggest should I buy anyone of this phones or spend 8500 on my S2??

No, spending 8500 on an age old phone is NOT recommended, if you can live with inferior camera, getting a Moto G is a very safe option

Hi dheerajpant, thats what exactly same problem I encounter with my note 2 .. i kept for charging the phone and after some hours "BAM"!! the cell was not even giving a samsung screen display ... I tried every possible way to recover ... right from installing new android from SDK etc .. etc .. but eventually i need to take it to Samsung service center and they quoted me around 8000 to fix it .. the problem is same MOTHERBOARD .. so , a gone for it . i had some bargain with then and they quoted me around 7500 .. lol ... anyways , anyways the phone was fixed and post it was working flawlessly !! and you get 6 months warantly from samsung of new motherboard ... i gone for it boz post repairing I sold it around 15 k so, it was not a loss for me .. for ur case . 1st try to see whether you can sell your mobile at what price and if it exceeds your repairing charge .. GO FOR IT ! All the best mate !! :)

There is no point in repairing your old phone instead get Zenphone 5.
