My Laptop is very Slow ( Model : Lenovo3000 Y500 )

Processor : Intel Celeron M 420 @ 1.6Ghz
RAM : 256MB DDR2
OS : Windows XP SP2

Please suggest if Upgrading Memory to 1GB will speed up my Laptop.
What all could be Done to speed it up

I use it mainly for Surfing, Listening Songs, Watching Movies & working In MS OFFICE
