my external drive not detecting!!!!

Guys..I ve a MAXTOR 500 gb external drive which was working perfectly fine till today morning..now when xp telling me that unrecognised usb device detected...wot do i do...i have valuable data in it....help me out....

Try using the USB port at the back of your cabinet. If its still not working change the USB cable & try.
