Hello,
i am having a very peculiar prob with my system windows xp home sp2.Whenerver i click on folder icon in dektop or start menu(eg:my computer,music)i get an error saying that
"the procedure * could not be loaded from dll msnauth.dll"
When i click ok,explorer.exe quits
Please help me,i dont want o reinstall the system.(Also,i dont have a regular windows xp home cd to do a repair install,as my system is from HP)

1. Could be a virus or malware... Have you run scans for them?
2. Have you tried this in safe mode?
3. Try to open explorer to open a folder through Run prompt(enter path in run command)
4. Run sfc to check for corrupted system files...
5. Googling on net seems to have very few references to the problem, but a couple indicated a software called xstarter that was installed just before problem started... Could this be the case?
6. Try system restore to get back system to older date...

If none of above work, post a hijackthis log so that we can check for any suspicious entries...

There is no such thing like genuine msnauth.dll. This must be a spyware issue. Download & Install Free SpyBot "Search & Destroy" and scan entire system in "safe mode". "Scanning in "safe mode" is important for effective removal of the spyware.
