MSI bios chip

where in mumbai i can get bios chip for MSI KT4V mobo?
My mobo chip's hologram has got damaged, might have burnt.
I don't know clearly.

The mobo is working fine, but i need to upgrade the bios to support latest CPU. it is socket A.

Also plz tell me the most powerful CPU available for this mobo in Mumbai market with price.

does ur mobo have replaceable bios? like, the bios mounted in a socket? because most bios chips are surface-mount devices (SMD's) and u hv to go to a professional if u want to replace the bios chip...else u can just try flashing the bios if u don't hv a hardware level problem

yes it does has a brown coloured socket with removable chip.

the blue circle shows the socket. the chip has a hologram on my mobo. this hologram is burnt now.

Also, the site shows so many bios updates.
now, should i d/l and install latest OR all updates and install one by one till the latest one.

hey ashnik.....its enough if u dl the latest bios...n as the site says, use the flash utility bundled with the bios...its the best option...

even if ur bios has a socket, most bios chips are generic EEPROM's which are then programmed......n if u get a blank EEPROM chip there's no way of programming it....and programmed BIOS chips are usually not retailed....they're only sold to OEM's.

but i wanted to be sure that if somthing goes wrong while flashing, i'll have a new chip on side.
