Recently whenever I try to run command it says " the system file is not suitable by running MS-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate application. This happens only in xp prof. It works fine with 98. This happens to all MS- Dos programmes.

typing "cmd" in winxp shows this

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

and typing "command" shows

Microsoft(R) Windows DOS
(C) Copyright Microsoft Corp. 1990-2001

Yes. It works with both the "cmd" and from accessories, command prompt. Thanks for that. But before seeing your responses I tried copying the AUTOEXEC.NT file from the repair folder and pasted it in the system32 folder ( As it said F:\windows\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS ). It works after pasting that file. But when I restart the computer the saved file is not there and again it does not work with "command" but works with cmd.

I have posted another question for this.
