MOUSE NOT CLICKING IN GTA VC!!

i reinstalled GTA VC after completing it 2 times before from the same source....but this time iam unable to use the mouse clicks in the menus and in the game.....the pointer is moving perfectly....its just with the click!!!!.....what exactly is going on???

i got one problem 2......?

configuration:
P4 1.7Ghz
512 MB SDRAM
intel 845G/GL mercury mobo
win xp sp2 & win98se

game run fine for 5-10min then it frizes my 98 and in xp after same time it show some dissplay driver problem and set my resolution to 256 color 640-480 mode......

what the hell it is
