Monitor dimness and sometimes flickering

Broken In
Hi everyone,

I assembled the following PC about seven months ago. Along with the PC, I bought a SL Win 8 64-bit license, and have been updating it regularly through windows update. Also, the drivers for all my peripherals are all up to date, so is the BIOS.

The OS was updated to 8.1 right after 8.1 came out, and I had no problem. However after some of the updates early this week, I started experiencing the following issues:

1. Screen dimmed. Brightness control was not working
2. Often I would see flickering. This is intermittent
3. My Keyboard and Mouse USBs would stop working. Again this is intermittent
4. Often after booting, the BIOS doesn't load the OS, and it may need a second restart. Again, this is intermittent

I've tried the following:
- Rolling back the Intel HD Graphics 4600 drivers to the earlier verion and reinstalling driver (the latest version is 10.18.10.3379)
- Check for a driver update in the Intel website, it tells me I'm up to date.

A natural follow-up would be to do a fresh install of the motherboard drivers. My follow-ups to this are:
- Is this necessary?
- Would I need to reinstall the OS again?
- Would there be any risk to the data I have, will the data partitions be recognised?
- Is this a known issue with 8.1 so even if I did the entire install, will I arrive at the same situation as I am in today?

What would you suggest I do?

Thanks a lot!

No problem with Hardware!
Just reinstall drivers i.e rewrite them
If it doesn't work install Microsoft Fixit.

You can find drivers in your drivers disc or try drivers .

Keyboard mouse problem-
"Go into the advanced mode in the UEFI bios and disable Intel XHCI Mode. Once I did that and all my USB devices worked"
