modem drivers problem

Hi,
My PC specs are
WINXP SP 2
160 GB HDD,
1 GB ram,
amd athlon 5000, 2.61 Ghz,
512 kbps Internet connection,
security softwares installed:
avast home edition AV,
spybot S & D,
autorun virus remover 2.3.

the issue now is when i try to install my modem drivers from the BSN: provided cd
the installation goes unsuccessful ,a msg box comes up saying ''A service installation section in this INF is invalid"

the modem model is UT 300 R2u.
