Hi all..

i had a amd 64 3000+(939 pin) on a asus a8n-e and a pci-e XFX 6200 (256 MB). recently the mobo has gone dead....(thats another story)....
so now least of all i need to buy a new motherboard.
so should i now go for a motherboard that will support my current proccy and Graphics card.
or
so should i now go for a AM2 motherboard.....i suppose i'll have to buy new ram(ddr2) also cause right now i have a 512 mb 400 mhz DDR module. will i have to change the processor also?

at max i can spare abt 4k.
waiting for your suggestions

regards

Right off the assembly line
I think you should be able to manage a motherboard and ram in that budget.
But I think you will have to change the processor also. Socket 939 has been
phased out according to this website :

Maybe if you look around locally you will find some shop having socket 939 motherboards.:)

Firstly, check whether your mobo has warranty.
If u bought it within 3 years, then it still has 3 years warranty.
If not, u'll probably have to do little searching, but u might find a 939-pin board.
U might also ask a mobo company distributor to order one for u.
I don't think they've stopped making 939-pin boards.

If u haf somebody in US, u can buy 939-socket mobo from newegg.com; they haf plenty of dat kinda performance mobos in sale.

Or go for X2 4000+,M2N-MX mobo,1GB DDR2 RAM; will be somewhere around 5K.
