Merging MySQL databases

Can I merge two MySQL databases, with similar structures but different, and some overlapping data? If so, can anybody give detailed steps? I am a n00b...

two diff databases...
Both were created by the smf installer. One is old (about 200 posts) and one is new (about 70 posts).
I want to merge them...

I can upload both the databases, if you want...

are you trying to migrate data from one SMF version to another? you just want to merge the data ?

cause when merging indexes and ID's will get screwed up if done manually(atleast in your case as you are new to this). please post important tables/table structure you want to merge.

I just wanted to merge the posts. Both the SMF are same versions (2.0.2)
