In Charak Samhita, the ancient Ayurvedic text, Yoga is mentioned to be the centre of Dinacharya or daily routine. Yoga is important in dissolving stress and providing inner tranquility. Only inner peace helps to connect with our Self. When this connection is made, the person is surrounded with a positive aura which makes the body capable to accept the positive effect of the medication at a much greater extent. Yoga is an effective stress-buster. Relaxation and inner calm is the secret to discovering the zeal that gets buried under the load of stress and tension.

Yoga helps in the balance of the Doshas that rule the body. The backward bending excercises work well for the Vatta Dosha. The Pitta Doshas can be cured through forward bending excercises, while the twisting excercises help get cure Kapha Doshas. Every part of the body is toned and freed from toxins and pollutants. Thus, it is necessary to understand the Prakruthi of your body when you opt to practice Yoga.

Breathing and posture patterns are designed according to the Dosha constitution of the human body. Therefore before practicing Yoga, you should get a check-up and analysis done by your Ayurveda doctor. As Ayurveda and Yoga are considered to be 'sister sciences' as they compliment eachother and are incomplete without each other, it is necessary that you perform Yoga along with taking ayurveda diet, medicines, therapy and other neessary routines. The miraculous effect of Yoga and Ayurveda can only be felt when done in harmony.
