if it were me, i wouldnt go for mac as a mainstream pc, unless you are a geek.....

geeks can deal with this stuff, mac, linux, 386, 486 etc etc

if you want browsing n games, then kiss (keep it simple st*pid)(no offence, thats how the phrase goes)

so, i for one, wouldnt recommend mac, not in current market conditions anyway

1. if u play games, then the Mac Mini is not 4 u as u will have trouble findin mac versions of the games...also, Macs r better suited 2 graphics work and the min is a good buy if u dont play games
2. no windows cant b installed on a mac as the architecture 4 Macs is totally different...u could try virtual PC software...but then, the whole point of getting a mac is getting away frm windows :p

Walking, since 2004.
First, about the specs of Mac Mini:

1.25GHz PowerPC G4
256MB DDR333 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB
DDR video memory
40GB Ultra ATA hard drive
Combo drive
DVI or VGA video output

I think you should wait till May/June. Apple will be toppling MINI with extra 512 mb ram and a better graphics card for free. This will cost you 28-29k.

Also keep in mind that you need to have your own keyboard, mouse and monitor

IMO, MAc Mini is a great machine. Don't be deceived by the looks... its as powerful as an AMD Athlon 2000+ machine....

Also, if you wait tell then you will get a copy of Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger" with your Mini... if you buy now u'll get panther and u'll need to shell out 6k extra(Yes, Mac OS copies are too rare to even pirate :p)

Just my advice...

Mr. Sunny dude have you ever worked on MAC?

You think windows is easier than MAC? Atleast don't spam if you don't know about stuff.

Edit by Deep : No flames please :)

mac mini worth buying?

No. You'd be better off building your own HTPC. Cheaper, not restricted
to MAC OS's and software.

Building a barebones system like Mac mini should cost you less than
15K.

EDIT // Not sure about 15K though. I'm directly converting prices from
Aus markets. Indian import duties may make some parts more expensive
.

also mail2and, what will the mini be upgraded with(i mean what kind of gfx cad other than the ati 9200).I heard that apple had spent three yrs to develop the mini and so will apple be ready to change the gfx card? The gfx card is the only thing lacking in mini.boy would i be happy to see a better one and why is apple gonna do this :)

From what I hear , I believe Macs are pretty good machines , however I believe its what "You" are going to do with the machine that counts. Ive seen games for Macs in the US, but I have no clue about the availability in India.

I believe there was a detailed article about PC vs Mac in Digit or Chip, (Ill have to check which one)
