Looking for an everyday use laptop 35-40k...need suggestions

Broken In
1) What is your budget - 35k, can extend to 40k if there is something significantly better.

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer - 14 or 15.6, would prefer 14" and light weight

3) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Dislike: I wouldn't want Wipro or HCl

4) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Everyday use, will be doing a lot of reading on it, NO GAMING AT ALL

5) What screen resolution(s) & type (glossy/matte) would you prefer?
Something on which its easy to read..a good display is high on the priority list

6) Anything else you would like to say?
- Min. config: i5, 500gb hdd
- I don't need OS (could save money there)
- Looking for something light and portable, would prefer a 14" (but its not essential)
- Good display and long battery life preferably

Here are some that I shortlisted, would appreciate if you guys could tell me the best among them, or give suggestions-

1. Lenovo B490 on flipkart @32k is what I'm inclined to right now. (i5/500gb/2gb/14 inch) I will upgrade to a 4gb after purchase, so it will cost me a total of 35k.
The concerns with this one are the display and speakers (read some reviews, if anyone has any experience with this one, let me know)

2. Toshiba Satellite M840-X4213 @34k (i5/500gb hdd/4gb/14")
The only reason I put this one on the list is because its a 14".

3. HP Pavilion 15-e006TU Laptop and HP Pavilion G6-2229TU Laptop @ 35k (i5/500gb/4 gb). Which one is better or the two?

4. Lenovo Essential G580 @ 36k (i5/500gb/4 gb/ 15.6")
Does this one have issues with the display? It seems to have quite a lot of negative reviews on flipkart.

5. Samsung NP350V5C-A03IN @ 37k (i5/750gb/4gb/ 15.6")

6. Lenovo Ideapad Z580 @ 41k (i5/1 TB/ 4gb/ Win 8/ 15.6")
Read a lot of good things about this series...only hitch is that its over budget...does it justify the extra 5k?

7. I also really liked the Dell Inspiron 14 3421 and HP Pavilion 14-e006TU which are both 14", but cost around 41k (i5/500gb/4gb/Win8). Considering that I don't need Win8 and can get the same config. for 35k, doubtful about these.

Suggestions needed!

That's a really good one! But a little too much for me, I guess. Since I won't do any gaming at all, I won''t need the 2 gb graphics card, plus its 39k (nearly my upper limit)

Also, is the i5 faster than the A10 or are they equivalent?

What about the HP Pavilion 15-e006TU Laptop (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 500GB/ DOS) or HP Pavilion G6-2229TU Laptop (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 500GB/ DOS) , both around 35k?

If you are not into heavy gaming then look for A8 version too...
i5 is much better than A10 but again what is your purpose??

From thse options the former looks very cool..

I get what you're saying, but I'd much rather have an i5.
So Lenovo B490 vs HP Pavillion 15

btw, what is the difference between the two- HP Pavilion 15-e006TU vs HP Pavilion G6-2229TU: it looked to me that they have an identical specs, so how did u find one better than the other?

Also what about this one - HP Probook 4440S (3rd Gen Intel Core i5- 2GB RAM- 500GB HDD- DOS)
I'll have buy additional 2gb afterwards, but otherwise its 14" (which i prefer) an antiglare display. How would it compare with the Lenovo B490 and Hp pavillion 15?

Lenovo B490 looks like a laptop from history(courtesy : Looks) also 2GB RAM makes it poor choice..

Both are same just looka are Cool.

Probooks are nice (I like their build quality & finish)
1.but it got i5-3210m instead of i5-3230m, a small clock difference of 0.1MHz (neglect it)
2.2GB Ram
if both points are ok then go for Probook eyes closed

Lenovo scores (-1) for lack of numeric Keypad.

Worthy Contender

Hi! I finally bought my laptop today. Samsung NP350V5C-A03IN Laptop (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 750GB/ Win8) for 35.5k at Samsung retail store.
I would have preferred a 14" but there aern't too many 14" options available that would have been within budget. The Lenovo B490 is good, but looks so chunky and primitive infront of the sleek, shiny ultrabooks alongside it that I didn't have the heart to go for it at all. The HP Probook aern't sold in retail anymore, so that was out too.
Between the HP Pavillion 15 and Samsung NP350V5C, Samsung was better on all counts - looks, weight, Win 8, 750 gb hdd and the biggest factor : it has a matt (anti glare screen). The screen might not be an issue for most, but I've been doing a lot of reading on my old laptop and the glare was really straining to the eyes.
Apart from that, two other laptops that I was considering were the Asus S56CA-XX056H Ultrabook and Lenovo Z500 , both at 42k, but then decided to go for the cheaper one instead.
